STORY

CityHope Wesleyan Church, formerly Gates Wesleyan Church, is known affectionately as "The Church the Depression Built." As the great depression began to take hold in America in 1929, many of the men and women who were laid off from their jobs began using their time off to meet and pray about the many needs of their community. Out of this time of prayer and meeting came a vision for a church in the town of Gates. Nearly 100 years later, our church has planted 3 churches in Rochester and his passionate about introducing both the lost and found the life changing message of the gospel.

Currently, Hannah and Justin Bowersox serve as Co-Lead Pastors at CityHope Wesleyan Church. Justin and Hannah, both former graduates of Houghton College, are passionate about bringing new life to churches, creating community, empowering leaders, and seeing the gospel spread like wildfire. They believe Rochester, NY is a ripe harvest field ready to hear the hope of Jesus and desire to build a church that extends outside the borders of brick and mortar. Trusting God with it all, they are excited about the journey and story of CityHope, believing God wants to do amazing things through His people here.
